On April 20, 2023, the WILEF Northern California Lawyers’ Committee and Young Lawyers’ Committee hosted an inspiring and insightful fireside chat at the San Francisco offices of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, which was titled: “Lifting While We Climb: How We Can Support One Another.”  The panelists included a wonderful mix of in-house and firm attorneys, including Kate Karas (General Counsel of Chime), Jamie Bartlett (Partner, Sidley Austin LLP), Lisa Rubin (Associate, Paul Hastings) and Ali Rivett (Associate, Morgan Lewis).

Chuck Shimada (Partner at Morgan Lewis and Co-Chair of WILEF NorCal) provided a warm welcome and opening remarks to an audience of women attorneys from across the Bay Area. The panelists discussed, among other things, what it means to support the success of women lawyers in a post-COVID, hybrid work environment, and shared their own experiences about how we seek support from and give support to women attorneys.

The audience was actively engaged in the discussion as it ranged over a wide variety of important topics, including how to find one’s own leadership style and “taking credit” for your own achievements while continuing to support and “lift up” the women around you.
